Emilia Nygren is an aspiring journalist interested in editorial writing and broadcast journalism, and audio production. She has spent the past few years in New York City pursuing her Bachelor studies in Political Science with a concentration in journalism at Hunter College.

Emilia likes to describe herself as a global citizen. She’s been traveling worldwide since childhood, always exploring and experiencing different cultures. Growing up in Sweden with parents who value traveling above material possessions, she always dreamt of living abroad and tell stories for a global audience.

With her passion for discovering different cultures, she moved across the world at 18-years-old to Kenya and finished high school at the Swedish School in Nairobi. The small school only admits 60 students per school year, and the school incorporates Kenyan culture and country resources into the school subjects as much as possible. The students interested in policy making and Model United Nations can participate in the East African Model United Nations, a class in which Emilia excelled and became an ambassador and leader for her classmates.

All these experiences have led Emilia to the point she is now newly graduated from college with an ambition to tell meaningful and diverse stories. Ultimately her goal is to work with purpose-driven content both in video and audio format. Women who inspire Emilia are journalists Katie Couric and Noor Tagouri, as well as her own mother, who is a journalist back in Sweden.
